Westside Church of GOD was established in 1946 under the leadership of the late Rev. Andrew Scott. The church was located at the corner of Yolo and Modoc Streets in west Fresno.
Rev. Scott retired in 1956, and Elder Oscar Lacy became the pastor. Pastor Lacy retired in 1960, and Elder Ed Greathouse served as interim pastor approximately one year. Elder Albert Parker, Sr. then became pastor until 1965, at which time Rev. Lacy resumed pastoral leadership.
As a result of redevelopment, the church was forced to move from its location. In 1973, the church relocated and constructed the present facility at 1422 W. California Avenue.
Rev. Lacy retired in 1976, and on January 23, 1977, Rev. Paul Lawrence Binion II, assumed pastoral leadership at Westside Church of GOD. The Bible says, “Where there is no vision, the people will perish.” Under the visionary leadership of Pastor Binion, the membership has increased, leading to the purchase of additional property, on which will soon be constructed a new sanctuary and facilities which will be of benefit to the entire community.
